This week is all about the 2012 Global Impact Celebration! Many
people have been working long, hard hours to make this a success.
Missionaries from across the street and around the world are coming
to take part in this great event. This year we have two of our own
participating. Both the Champion, and Lethers families have answered
God’s call to missions. The Champions are heading to Costa Rica
and the Lethers’ plans are to go to Togo, Africa. Our missionary
line up also includes Kyle and Care Luke, with the Florida Baptist
Children’s Home. Many great friends will be with us too, like Paul
and Patty Collier, Jim and Susie Horne and more.
As you already know the theme is “SURRENDER” and that is what we
hope you will do this week. Give something of yourself to world
missions. I really hope that some of you will make the decision
to go on a short term missions journey. It will make such a difference
in your lives. The special project this year is another step in
helping the students at Emanuel University in Oradea, Romania. We
are raising funds for remodeling rooms in the dormitory. This university
rose up after the fall of communism in the eighties and has trained
thousands ofyoung men and women to serve in God’s work. They also
train business leaders and other professionals to make a difference
for Christ in the Romanian economy. These young men and women at
Emanuel are from the most humble of homes. The chance to encourage
them with a nice place to live is worth far more than the thousands
we hope to raise. Please pray and give generously.
All of this begins Wednesday evening at 5:00 with the “ItalianFeast”.
As you know this is a ticketed event and you must get your tickets
today! Tables are set up at each exit. While you are there, get
your ticket for the International Fellowship Dinner, where you will
have the chance to mingle with the missionaries and have lots of
great food and fellowship with your church family. In your prayer
guide you have the schedule for the entire week. I know first hand
the amount of work that has gone into this year’s GIC. Mrs. Ray
has served as chairmanand every detail has been considered. Please
be a part of each event and by all means get your tickets for everything
before you leave church today!
